Hi Leo,

I've got this little computer problem that I've tried the usual resources (Dell, Microsoft KB, Adobe KB, etc.) to resolve and haven't had any luck. I was hoping that if I describe it to you, maybe you might know what's going on and how to fix it or point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance, here's the 'haps:

Dell XPS-400 Desktop, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, 250 GB SATA II - 7200 TPM DIM P, Windows Media Center, SP 2, Wacom Intuio3 9X12 tablet.

Error message on start up: The Background Task Server has encountered a problem and needs to close...

The error report says:
C:\DOCMEN~1\SUSANH~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1a32.dir\MSTask.exe.mdmp
C:\DOCMEN~1\SUSANH~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1a32.dir\appcompat.txt

I don't notice errors because of it (other than the usual squirrelly windows behaviors) except the Windows Image Viewer doesn't work and most times (but not always) the screen saver won't start up.

I figure I corrupted something when I uninstalled CS3 beta with CS2 still on the machine (that's when I noticed the problem). I have CS3 Extended installed now. CS3 Bridge had some problems too so I uninstalled CS2 Bridge and haven't had any more problems. I suppose I should uninstall CS2 but it's kind of like cutting my lifeline and I'm hesitant!!) (Also all the CS's are Photoshop, I don't have any other Adobe programs installed except Acrobat 6.0)

I also ran Windows XP from the installation disk in the repair mode and it did repair something but it wasn't the Background Task Server problem.

Any thoughts?

With kindest regards,
